Cannot install v12.2.1 Update

I had one user who I had installed EWS on, and he was having issues, so I
elected to do a full reinstall of Entourage+EWS.

To do this I did the "Remove Office" utility.

Then I inserted the Office 2008 CD, installed, and installed SP1. I then
rebooted and installed sp2. I then rebooted again and tried to install
12.2.1 - but I got a prompt that Office 12.2.1 would not be able to install
on his volume / the right version of office wasn't detected.

I can launch Entourage and confirm he is on 12.2.0. I have done the same
process 2 times to ensure it wasn't some type of fluke. I even updated his
OS from 10.5.7 to 10.5.8. No luck.

What do I need to do to for the installer to be able to install 12.2.1?

Thanks

Diane-

I followed your instructions completely. I logged out/in (holding shift) and
then trashed the MSO08 folder and emptied. I rebooted, held shift, installed
MSO08. I rebooted, held shift, installed 12.1. I rebooted, held shift,
installed 12.2. I rebooted, held shift, and then launched the 12.2.1
installer. Attempting to install 12.2.1 I am greeted with the same issue of
the hard drive w/ exclamation point stating the update cannot be installed.

Thanks
Casey

From the terminal --

cd /tmp
ls

That will change you to the tmp directory (cd /tmp), and then it will list
the items (ls). See if com.microsoft.updater is listed. If it is delete it
(this is the dreaded temp folder).

Now you should be able to install.

If it is not listed, then let me know.
