cannot launch powerpoint 2003

Hi there,

I need some inspiration to sort out this one...

I can't launch Powerpoint 2003, I only get a system error box saying
"Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not
have the appropriate permissions to access the item"

All other office applications run fine.

I tried reinstalling Office, and updating. and repairing. running with
and without Office SP2.

Any ideas?

Cheers,
Wim

have you tried looking at a colorful sunset
through a big window with a hot tottie?

also, have you check to see if it is disabled
under the about dialog under help in office?

Thanks for the tip,
I went through the checks, and everything was in order.

I've now uninstalled Powerpoint again, and I'm going through the
registry, deleting all powerpoint references. Will delete any
powerpoitn files too. then reinstall and apply Office2003-SP2...

Trying to find out about launching powerpoitn in debug mode, I tried
runnign ti directly from the command line:
"
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11>POWERPNT.EXE
Access is denied.
"

I tried turning off anit-spam/anti-virus/firewall/etc.. but it will
still show the same trick.
Security settings are correct (tried updating too).

Is there a debug mode (or "safe mode") for Powerpoint?

cheers,
wim.

Used some Mickeysoft Black Voodoo!

I found the solution (problem goes back to Windows 2000...):
- start windows in safe mode (hold down F8) during laptop booting.
- Then launch Powerpoint.
- Close powerpoint.
- Restart windows normally.
- Use Powerpoint.

Can't wait for Vista: more features, same old bugs!

Cheers,
Wim.
