I recently bought office professional edition 2003, the software will not load stating I need a newer version of windows. I currently have windows 98. Is there a way around this? If not, what will rectify the problem?

You need a newer version of Windows, such as Windows XP.

*SIGH* Don't people *BOTHER* to read the system requirements anymore?! It
*clearly* states on the box "Requires Windows 2000 SP3 or later, or Windows
XP". Where did you purchase it? If you bought it online then you're more of
an idiot than I thought - every etailer gives full system requirements for
software - *INCLUDING THE NECESSARY OPERATING SYSTEM*.

No store that I know of will take back opened software - and especially not
when the customer was at fault (which you clearly are).

If not, what will rectify the problem?

Based on my remarks above what do you reckon?!

Next time do a little homework before rushing out to make a purchase!

Listen, I resent the way you have answered this E-mail, I bought the software on campus with no box included. It was special priced at $65.00. I got the product key but nothing else. Quite frankly your response is totally based on assumtions that represent a lack of understanding. You must have a really sad life if all you can do is write emails that are unconscionable. You are an idiot in my opinion.....

1) This isn't email - this is a newsgroup.

2) I understood perfectly well - you want to install Office 2003 on an
operating system it wasn't designed for - error messages aren't included
because the developer was having a slow day...They actually *mean*
something. Therefore, your post was superfluous and unnecessary.

Had you included the relevant information (i.e. you didn't receive a box) I
(might) have gone a little easier on you. So it's your own fault for not
including all the relevant information, n'est pas? How can I understand the
situation - *when you don't bother to inform me*?!

Therefore you're a fool - and deserve everything you get - for not including
the salient info.

So Bobby you bought pirated or stolen software on campus and then are upset
no one can help you to get it to work?
