Cannot login to PS 2003 via MS Project 2003

We just installed Project Server 2003. We can access everything via PWA
fine. However, we cannot login via MS Project 2003 Professional. We
receive the dreaded "An error occurred while trying to access Project
Server". I also have MS Project 2002 Professional installed and I can
access Project Server and load a new project to the enterprise!

My machine is not part of the same domain as project server. Even using a
project server account, not windows, doesn't work in 2003. In 2002 I'm
prompted to login when launching (i.e. windows authentication). It doesn't
happen for 2003. I'm using the default language settings on both sides.

There could be several things causing the problem. Here are a few
suggestions.
If you can publish to Project Server 2003 from Project Pro 2002, then you
must not be using Windows SharePoint Services. Project Pro 2002 will not
work with WSS and Project Pro 2003 will not work with STS.
And, you have allowed users to connect to PWA with Project Pro 2002 in the
PWA Admin. It is a setting in the security templates.
It sounds like your instance of Project Pro 2003 needs to be part of the
domain that is recognized by PWA. And that PWA is set for Mixed Mode in the
authentication section of the Admin. The client settings must also match the
server settings. Check your Project Server Accounts in the Project Pro 2003.
If you have an account to connect to PWA, look at the properties of that
account. Is the URL correct? Is the Use Windows user Account button checked?
One problem that we have had is the computer name not matching the windows
account name. You may want to check that as well.
Some things to try. I hope that helps.
