Cannot make a deep search on public folders

Is there a reason for Outlook to be unable to perform a deep search
(selected folder and subfolders)for items in a public folder ?

Not sure of the reason, but MS says this is "by design" for some reason.

That's a limitation of the Exchange store provider and the design of
the Exchange public folder store itself.

Nice.
I was just telling my users not to create that lot of folders to organize
messages (a public folder creates a lot of other objects) but to use
categories instead and to use the search based on those ones.
What victory on exploring Mars in front of this ?
