cannot make an appt in outlook 2000

In trying to fix my import problem I have now found that
I can not make an appointment in my outlook 2000. The
error reads "messaging interface has returned an unknown
error, if problem persists restard outlook". I have
restarted outlook to no avail.

I am using xp as my operating system.

Anyone who can help?
