cannot make Word my default program

Whenever I open a Word document, it opens with
WordPad,unless I right-click and go through the "Open
with Word" routine. (This just started happening; I have
no idea how I changed the default.) How can I change it
back, so everything just opens with Word?

Try reregistering Word in Windows. See

nope. i did that, called up a Word document, and it
opened again in WordPad

Try going to Start/Run and running:

winword /r

Note the space before the forward slash.
