Cannot modify or delete recurring items

I am unable to edit or delete recurring appointments in Outlook 2002 on
Win7. I get an error saying "Can't open this item. The object is invalid."
At one point it would tell me that I did not have permissions.
If I copy the outlook.pst file to another user on the same computer (or
another computer w/ WinXP) I am able to edit/delete the items.
This happens for recurring items regardless of whether they are
newly-created or have been on the calendar for months. Individual items work
OK.

I should note that I once deleted my ID on this computer and recreated it.
It acts as if some sort of permissions are being denied based on the new
credentials or something. But that makes no sense since the file works fine
on other IDs.

Anyway, I cannot find any explanation for this problem. I have
uninstalled/reinstalled Office 2002 a couple of times to no avail.

OK, this is very odd: if I go to View->Current View and change to Recurring
Appointments I am then able to manipulate a recurring appointment from that
view.

Tried resetting the the day/week/month view already?
View-> Current View-> Customize Current View...-> Reset Current View

Also note that Outlook 2002 is not fully compatible with Windows 7. Aside
from the password issue you've probably already encountered, you may hit
some others as well.

Depending on your needs, you could also consider migrating to Windows Live
Mail which is supported and offers similar functionality for basic usage. It
also has security features Outlook 2002 doesn't have such Junk E-mail
filtering and "picture tracking blocking" to fight spammers from validating
your address via web pictures to send you some more spam.

Resetting the Current View didn't change anything. I am aware of at least
the password problem which isn't too annoying. The fact that the
Day/Week/Month view works fine w/ recurring appointments if I merely copy it
to another account on Win7 leads me to believe that this is some strange
setting in my profile. However, I deleted all of the profile info I knew
about after uninstalling Office with the hope that it would be recreated
correctly when I reinstalled.

Outlook 2002 cannot be used reliably on Windows 7. It is not compatible.

I'd try starting Outlook once with the /cleanviews command switch and I'd also
clear the forms cache.

It's not a strange setting in your profile- it may be related to the view
and possibly addins. I was aware of the problem months ago and could not
repro it. I probably used a table view to open the appointments - it might
only fail in Day/Week/Month. Off to load my Vista/Ol2002 VM and and find
out...

I see this is a quite old thread, but I have run into this a handful of
times. From my experience, the issue is with setting the resolution of the
PC to 125% instead of leaving it at the default 100%. If you go into the
display settings and change it to 100%, you should be fine.

Aside from recurring events, I have also seen this "object is invalid"
message pop up when trying to attach an email string in another email
[copy from the email list, open a new email, and paste in the body of the
new email. At 100%, it works fine and attaches the email as it should, but
at 125%, the "invalid" message pops up.].

Hopefully this helps someone...

This is a known issue on Win7. See
