Cannot open a database

When I try to Open any Databases with access 2003(SP1) I get the
Hourglass for a second or two and then nothing happens?
These databases works fine on other similar systems (Windows XP(SP2) and I
even tried to open the Northwind Sample and it does not open. I also created
a Runtime version of one of the databases on another system and when I try to
run on this system, it brings up the access window for a few seconds then
closes access.
I can create a blank database and enter data but when I close and save it
will not reopen.
Any help will be appreciated.

What method are you using to open the file? Are you opening Access first
then doing a File|Open from there, are you double clicking on the file, or
using a shortcut?

Try a repair install of Office (Help|Detect and Repair...). Also, make sure
the NTFS permissions haven't been messed up on the file or the folder it is
in. Access needs Read, Write, Create, and Delete permissions. If that
doesn't work, try an uninstall and reinstall of Office. Also, make sure you
have the updates for your OS installed from www.windowsupdate.com.
