Cannot Open Documents in Word 2003

Every time I try to open a document, I get the following window: "Microsoft Office Word has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." I am then offerred the opportunity to attempt a recover and report the error to Microsft. The recovery never works. Ocassionally I can work on a document for a very short period of time, but within a few mintues I get the same error. I also ocassdional get this error for Outlook 2003.

I am running Word 2003 on WIndows XP Pro on a Vaio TR2A. I have reinstalled Office twice.

You might also try the update at www.officeupdate.com, there's an update for
Office that might be relevant to you.
