Hi, my problem is that I cannot open word files or excel files that are in a
older format. Words - doc. and Excel - xls. By the way I have Vista Premium
and Office 2007. When I try to open .doc documents words tells me that the
document in question is locked for editing by a (different user). When I try
the same thing with excel the program tells me that the document is
protected. To try to solve this I have:
1: Tried to run words and excel with administrator rights. ( Checked the box
for administrator rights) When I do this then words and excel cannot locate
the files if I try to double click on them. And not only .doc and .xls file
either but also .docx and .xlsx files. I can open both formats if I open them
inside e.g. words.
2: If I turn off UAC everything works perfect.
I have also tried to repair and reinstall Office 2007 but the problem remains.
This hiccup is starting to get somewhat annoying and I hope that someone has
an answer for my problem.
