Cannot Open Excel 1.x File

trying to open 1989 floppy disc - message popup is

cannot open normal document created in Microsoft Excel for
the Macintosh version 1.x

Am able to open word documents on same floppy but need the
excel spreadsheets

any advice is welcome.

We're using the macintosh powerbook 3400C with Excel 98

Hi
try savinf the file first to a harddisk. NEVER open an Excel file
directly from a floppy disc
