Cannot open files by double-clicking on file

For some reason I can no longer open Excel and display a spreadsheet by
double-clicking on the spreadsheet file in Windows Explorer or on a shortcut.
File association entries seem fine. Files can still be opened using the Excel
Open command. Shortcuts involving Excel add-ins claim not to be able to find
the file being sought. Any ideas?

Hi Gesualdo,

From the Excel menu choose Tools/Options/General and uncheck the "Ignore
other applications" checkbox.
