Cannot open Hotmail messages in Outlook

Hi, I helped my sister set up Outlook. Initially, she was able to open her
Hotmail messages in Outlook but since updating Outlook she has been unable to
open the messages she can view in Outlook. We have tried deleting and then
reinstalling the Hotmail account in Outlook but this doesn't work. It is not
apparent how we can undo the updates. My sister is able to open messages in
another e-mail account within Outlook. Help in resolving this problem would
be most welcome. (I feel a sense of responsibility having set up Outlook for
my sister.) The operating system is Windows ME. Many thanks in advance for
your assistance!

What happens when she tries to open them?

She can view the subject line of the Hotmail messages in Outlook but cannot
open them. Possibly the best description is that Outlook freezes. She can
read the Hotmail messages in www.hotmail.com. She is able to open messages
belonging to a BT Internet account in Outlook.

Is the message body downloaded? The mail icon will look like it's torn in
half if only the body is downloaded.

Are the headers current - i.e., from today or yesterday? Hotmail is ending
HTTP access and while it's supposed to work for existing accounts until
spring, a few people said they lost HTTP access.

Turn off the preview pane - will they open if she double clicks?

I'll have to get back to you on those points. If Hotmail is ending HTTP
access, will it no longer be possible to import e-mails into Outlook? (I am
still able to import e-mails into my Outlook account.)

Thanks for your continuing assistance.

Correct. Eventually people who are currently using HTTP to access Hotmail
will lose it unless they upgrade to a Hotmail plus account or add it to an
MSN account. When you check new mail, you'll get an error if HTTP is no
longer available.

Many thanks for your continuing assistance. So if my sister creates a Net
passport with a Hotmail that will probably fix the problem?

I don't think a passport has anything to do with it, but it's might be worth
a try.
