Cannot Open mdb From Windows Explorer If Another User Has It Opene

Keith

I am installing Access 2000 on a computer running Windows Server 2008 (This
will be used as a Terminal Server). When I try to open an mdb from a
shortcut or from Windows Explorer and the mdb is already in use by someone
else, nothing happens. It simply does not open, but there is no error
message. If the file is not opened by another user, then double-clicking the
shortcut or the file in Windows Explorer opens the database as usual.

A little additional background information may be in order. The install of
Office 2000 on this machine does not seem to have worked correctly, as I am
unable to open Excel or Word at this time. I get the error message "required
registry information is missing...". I am researching this issue separately.

Thanks,

Keith

Running Access 2003, I have the same issue (although I didn't realize it
occured only when others were connected.) I just had the users "back-door" it
- the .mdb opens if they open MS Access, then use file/open to open the
source.

Chris,

Thanks for the response. I solved the problem by first correcting a
registry problem as described in KB 236590. Then, I eliminated the "Open
file-Security Warning" message by following the advice in the following link:

http://windowsxp.mvps.org/networkfile.htm

Problem solved...I hope!
