Cannot open PC pps files on Mac

Giddyup

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) I recently purchased Office for Mac so I could have the functionality of using files on Mac and PC. When I receive and email through Entourage with a pps or ppt file attached, it will not let me open it, nor if I save it to the desktop and try to open in in Powerpoint, I get the follwing msg: PowerPoint cannot open the file "x" The file may be corrupt, in use not a type recognised by PowerPoint, or the file extension may not match the internal format of the file..... now these files open fine on my PC. Any help would be grateful...otherwise I need a refund on Office for Mac. Thanks

You probably updated your copy of PowerPoint on the Mac, but if you
haven't be sure to use Help > Check For Updates and install all
available updates.

The most likely problem here is that the copy of Office on the PC side
was not properly updated. Office on the PC side was producing some
flawed files for a while, but this was fixed with an update. After
installing PC updates, open the offending files on the PC and then save
them again using Save As. This should remove corruption.

Another likely cause is that the email sending application, an email
server, or your email application changed the file during transmission.
Try having your PC friend (after installing Office updates and re-saving
the files) try using Winzip to zip the files before mailing them to you.
