Cannot open PowerPoint files from a network drive

Hi,

After installing VMWare Fusion for Mac, I am no longer able to open PowerPoint files (all other Office file types work) that are on a network drive. I can copy the file locally and open it without a problem, but when I try to open it directly from the network drive, I get an error:

PowerPoint cannot open the type of file represented by (filename.ppt).

Any thoughts?
