cannot open .pps email attachment

romepe

I have Windows XP Home Edition vrs 2002 with Service Pack 2. I also have a
functional Power Point (Office 2003), patched with Service Pack 3. I can
download, save and open both excel and word email attachments but cannot do
the same with .pps or .ppt email attachments. The saved file contains no
information (o bits). The same program on a laptop runing with Windows XP
Home edition gives no problem. May be unproper settings in Window XP the
reason? I would greatly appreciate any hint or help.

Thanks echo S,
I am not using Outlook Xpress for emails. Downloading emails through any
browser I have used (Internet explorer 6, Netscape 7.7 or Mozilla 2.0)
reproduces the failure.

Thank EchoS. I`ll try to make myself clear. As PowerPt 2003 is functional in
my PC, I have no problems opening PowerPoint files (.pps, .ppt) that have
been downloaded previously. However, I can neither open nor download these
files if attached to emails. I don´t use Outlook as email server. I use
Yahoo, Hotmail or Gmail, instead.

I don't know, sorry. The only thing I can think is it's related to Windows
or IE (or other browser) security settings, if you're not even able to
download the files. But I've no idea what settings those would be....

Thank you for your interest, Echo S. What´s funny is that other email
attachments that might be potentially dangerous, can be both downloaded and
opened.
