cannot open publisher by double clicking

Hi,

Not sure if anyone has come across this issue before. But when a user logs
on with their username and password to a pc and locates a .pub file, if they
double click the file it then attempts to open the file with another program.


Looking in Tools | Folder options | File Tyes, it doesnt say open with MS
Pub in the opens with section for .pub files.

But if i log on as the local administrato it does say opens with MS Pub for
the .pub file and i am to open a .pub file by double clicking it.

Any ideas

I am not able to change any settings logged on as the user. We are using
pub 2000. Even when i right click and select open with i dont have the
option to select ms pub and when i browse to ms pub and click on open ms pub
is not addedd to the program list.

it.

sugggest i ask them to change.

Assuming this is a work system, talk to your IT staff and get them to change
it.

A file does not open in the program that you expect when you try to open the
file in Office

Could be a permission problem.
Download FileMon and RegMon from
http://www.sysinternals.com/. Run them as administrator (when no
user is connected), start a TS session as a normal user and try to
run the application.

FileMon and RegMon will show you all "access denied" errors that
occur, so that you can give your users the necessary permissions on
a file-to file or Registry subkey basis.
