Cannot open Tables,queries when Split database placed on LAN.

I have split my database into two parts. One for the Tables, and the other
for the forms, queries etc. When both .mdb files are on the local hard drive
everything works nicely. I have now placed the .mdb containing the data
files onto the LAN and the Frontend is relinked to access these tables. Now
when I try and open a table via the frontend, or open a local query in
design view nothing happens. No errors are displayed. The system does not
freeze. I can still open local tables.

Any Ideas.
