Cannot open this item. appointment busy status is not valid

Hi,

one of our clients has a problem when they try and access their calendar
through Outlook 2000.
if they click something within the calendar, sometimes it opens ok, and
sometimes they are presented with an error message that says
"Cannot open this item. the value for appointment busy status is not valid -
check your code"
as far as we can tell nothing has changed between the items opening with no
problems and the user getting the error.

The user has owner permissions to the calendar, and everything else looks
ok. - i've tried deleting and re creating the outlook profile, and had no
success. i've also looked through the web but not been able to find anybody
with the same problem....

after looking through it, it seems to relate to office XP and outlook 2002.
the user I'm supporting is using Office and Outlook 2000.
is there an updated service pack for office 2000 that would fix the issue or
can I use the office xp hotfix? The link refers to Office Xp Service pack 2,
but my user is using Outlook 2000 SR-1
