cannot open word 2003 documents in Vista home premium with word 20

As stated above I have Vista home premium with ms office 2007 but cannot open
power point or word from previous versions of word etc. Any help would be
great thanks.

It just says that Windows is unable to open this file. and I know it is from Office 2003 as it is a friend of mine but I also have Office 2003 on another PC at home here and I cannot open any of the files when I send them to this computer.

I think this is a "feature" in Word 2007, that will protect you from al
the nasty viruses in your earlier Word documents. You will get
hyperlink to a kb article that claims your administrator set polic
restrictions, even though they haven't. It then gives a couple o
registry edits that should allow you to open files from earlier Wor
versions. It requires you to enter each folder that has these files i
to be entered into the registry (no subfolders allowed). I tried i
with one folder and that didn't work. I think the answer is either t
download the new compatibility pack or better still to download Ope
Office. Sorry I can't give more detail as this is all from memory
