Cannot past images into outlook (just shows red x)

I've had my Vista Machine with Outlook 2003 for about year and it has been
fine, now all of a sudden when I try and paste an image into a new message,
the image does not display, just the red x place holder. The image will paste
into other office applications. If I change to word HTML rendering, the image
will display. I typically use windows snipper tool to grab the image and
paste into Outlook.
