cannot paste in outlook subject line

When I copy a line of text from Word or anywhere else, I cannot paste the
line into the Outlook subject line or any cell in Excel. I was running
Office XP but have upgraded to 2003 but the problem is still there.

If this happens with Excel, too, I'm not sure why you'd think it was an
Outlook issue. Can you use copy/paste elsewhere successfully?
