cannot play a movie in PowerPoint

I can insert a movie file (.asf) into a slide. I can play the movie with MS
Media player. PowerPoint won't play it. instead I get the message "The
specified file cannot be played on the specified MCI device...".
The same PowerPoint presentation ran great in the past on the same machine.

Yes. For anyone who read the problem, Austin suggested to download and
re-install the Media Player (same version) and it worked. Thanks Austin.
