Cannot print most files

When I select print, a "save as" dialog opens. The file is using an MDI
extension. Why can I not print and where is this MDI extension coming from?

Try changing your default printer setting.

MDI extension is a Microsoft Document Imaging document. Start, Microsoft Office,
Microsoft Office Tools, Microsoft Document Imaging. Open the file, save as a
..tiff.
