Cannot Receive Email Messages

I have just transferred my Outlook 97 to a new system running XP. I am able
to send email messages and use calendar etc., but do not receive email
messages in my Inbox. I know they have reached the server as I am able to
retrieve the incoming messages using Hotmail POP3. Is this likely to be a
problem with my Outlook setup, or with the server? I do not receive any
error messages.

So, are you saying you have a paid Hotmail account that allows POP access
and that you can't access the POP server? What happens when you telnet to
port 110 on the server? Does it answer? ARe you sure you have the POP
server correctly specified in the account properties?

Thanks for the prompt and helpful response. I just thought I'd try Outlook
Express, which I still have set up for the same address, and that is able to
receive messages to the Inbox. Clearly, my Outlook setup has a problem, so I
will double and triple check everything again. As usual, user error is at
the bottom of this.
