When trying to receive mail from MSN via POP3 account, which is configured
for POP3 by MSN I get the following error:
"The specified server was found, but there was no response from the server.
Please verify that the port and SSL information is correct."
Problem machine is Windows 2000 Pro with SP-4 and latest security patches
installed.
I am able to download PO3 mail, but cannot send. A month ago I could send
mail too, but since I have upgraded the firmware on the PPOe NetGear Router
and installed Windows 2000 security patches. Not sure if either messed up
the operation.
I did configure my mail account on another Domain network and can send and
receive e-mail from that machine just fine, so it does not appear to be
Microsoft's servers.
I have configured the mail account on another machine (Windows 98 SE) and
Windows 2000 Pro in the network my problem machine is in and cannot send
mail from those machines either. Unfortunately, all machines are patched to
current levels.
I have also configured cookies and daomain names in IE Security and PRivacy
TABs to allow MSN.com, microsoft.com, passport.net with no impact. The
working machine has none of these exceptions installed.
Got any ideas. Thanks for your help.
