cannot receive mail

For some strange reason I cannot receive email. I can send but not
receive. I have checked all the settings and they look good. It says
sending and receiving in the right hand corner. I do not get any errors.
The send receive message goes away but no mail. I know there is mail
because I go on the internet and check to see if I have mail and there is
some. I am on a wireless network with my other computer. I have it set up
so the mail stays on the server so my wife can check the mail on my other
computer.

What version of Outlook do you have? Could you turn on diagnostic logging
(see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q300479) and
post the OPMLog.log file after trying to receive?

I'm having a similar "can send but cannot receive" problem with OL2000 on a
new XP machine. No problem with my "main" account profile, but my alternate
accounts can send but not receive. Have confirmed that there are messages in
the mailbox(s) on the web, but cannot receive them in Outlook. Also can send
a test message to myself, but cannot receive it. OL2K apparently does not
have error logging that I can turn on, so I don't know what to do next.

It does. See
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q240347. The file
of interest in your case is pop3log.txt.
