cannot receive

can send fine but cant receive
using outlook2003sp1
was getting operation failed but could
send email manually under tools [there
was a pop up with only 'operation failed']
uninstalled and re installed office 11
same problem but popup does not show up
can send but the send/receive button
only blinks and nothing happens when depressed
setting are all ok and when testing settings
all 5 are ok including finding pop3 server and
logging onto incoming server

The send/receive dialog should have several lines of information about the
connection. What does it say?

Did you try a new profile in Control panel, mail, profiles?
