cannot reload Ofice 2003 on my new computer

Has anyone had this problem. I cannot reuse my office 2003 program on my new
computer. When I called for a new activation key they stated they cannot do
that as I already used on a computer. I got a new computer for Christmas
and cannot reuse the program. They state I have to purchase a new program.
Does not seem fair when I already purchased one.

Unless Office 2003 came pre-installed on your previous computer, that's not
typical, from my experience. Assuming you bought retail Office 2003 and it's
not an OEM version, remove Office 2003 from the old computer. Call back.
Tell them that you've bought a new computer, Office 2003 has been removed
from the old one, and you want to install/activate on the new computer. It's
unlikely that you will get the same person, and if they try handing you the
same line again, ask to speak to a supervisor.

If Office 2003 came installed as OEM software on your previous computer,
however, then you are out of luck, since it would have been licensed only
for that original computer.

Sounds like you have an OEM version of Office 2003 that came
preinstalled on your old computer by the computer manufacturer. Your
OEM version of Office probably cost less than half of what a retail
version would have cost, but an OEM version is only licensed for
installation on the computer that the software came with. A retail
version of Office initially costs more, but a retail version can be
transferred to another computer. Does not seem fair that some people
complain because they can't have their cake and eat it too.
