Cannot remove black line at top of every page

All of the sudden, MS Word shows a thick black line at the top of
every page of my document. All efforts to remove it fail. I understand
from collegues that I am not the only one to experience this although
this is the first time for me.

How do I get rid of this phenomena?

Any tips are welcome.
