Hi,
I had a hard disk failure.
I Restored my system from a backup but office xp reports it is not properly
installed whenever I start Word or Excel.
I am running XP Pro as the O/S. The installer ver. is >2.0 and have applied
previously the service packs incl sp 2 to officexp
Office XP is small business ed. OEM.
When I run Setup for Office, or run change or remove from control panel add
remove hardware for Office XP I receive the following error message:
This patch package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to
verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package.
I have found 2 articles on the Microsoft Support dealing with this issue
(Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 295823 & 290301) but since my version
of installer is >2.0 the solutions presented there do not work.
