Cannot Retrive Excel File

We have a income spreadsheet for the entire year to date
on a 3-1/2 disc. It will not open. It takes about 1 to 2
minutes and then states that it might be our server which
i checked on anothe computer and it's not or that it is in
a read only file, etc etc. Is there any way that you know
of to open this file

Copy the file to a local hard drive or network drive and open it
from there (save it back to the floppy when your done)... Excel
has to make a copy of the file on the drive from which it is
opened, this is often not possible on a floppy due to file size /
drive space limitations...
