CANNOT SAVE EXCELL FILE

I just upgraded to Office:macv.X and every time I try to save a
worksheet it tells me that there is not such path, or another file with
that name. Yet other files can be save to the same destination?

Do you mean one specific workbook can't be saved or any workbook in Excel?

If it's one specific Workbook, isn't the name of the file containing some
"prohibited" character, like "/" or":" or so? That might be taken for a path
separator...

Does this concern already existing Workbooks (having been created with your
earlier version) or recent Workbooks, or both?
