Cannot Save PPT to Earlier Version

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I cannot save Powerpoint slideshows in the earlier (2004) version of Powerpoint without crashing the application every time (I send an error message each time to Microsoft). My client uses an older PC version of Powerpoint and cannot open the 2008 Powerpoint slides I create.

This happens both on my Macbook (Intel) and my desktop Mac G5 (PPC), so i know it is not my computer. Is there a patch to fix this bug?

Does the file contain any PDFs? There appears to be a bug introduced with
the 12.1.2 update that prevents Office apps from successfully saving files
containing PDFs in a 97-2004 format. MS is aware of the problem but as yet
there is no fix. If you can produce the PDFs as another format & reinsert
them you should be OK - that's the only workaround I know of.

As for your clients being able to open .pptx files - How old is their
version of Office? There are free converters for Office 2000 or later which
can be downloaded from the MS Office web site.
