Cannot save Word 08 document in .doc format

J

john.

I have a word 2008 document that contains some diagrams created in
Power Point, and I am trying to save it in the .doc format, and every
time I try to save it Word crashes. I have tried to remove the power
point diagram but it makes no difference.

Anyone any ideas please.

Thanks

John

Your document could be corrupted. Activate the non-printing characters (hit
Cmd+8 or click on the ¶ icon in your Standard toolbar) and carefully select
everything except for the last paragraph sign (¶) and copy/paste it into a
new document. See if you can save the document now; if you still can't, post
back.

By the way, you should also make sure that you are running the latest
version of Office; click on Help>Check for Updates to verify that you have
installed the latest updates.

Hello,

Yes using the latest version of Office.

Tried you suggestion with no luck I am afraid.

Also i have this same problem with another document, and both these
documents will convert correctly if i
transfer them to a Windows environment.

Thanks

Hi John:

Sorry, it's likely there is no solution to this problem.

Currently, Mac Office 2008 will not handle all of the graphical objects that
PC Office will create.

Microsoft is working on the problems, but they haven't fixed all the issues
yet.

There was an update -- 12.1.3 -- issued by Microsoft last week. This update
addresses some of the bugs in this area, so make sure you have applied it.

Cheers

John,

Thanks for the lead about 12.1.3. I did check for updates yesterday
and indicated I was at the latest level, recheck
today and now have 12.1.3 loaded and yes it does fix my problem.

Thanks for your help

John

Hi John:

That's really good to hear.

There is a "collection" of these bugs, and the patch does not cover ALL of
them, but it gets the most common ones.

It would not have been on AutoUpdate when you checked, it only appeared
there a day or two ago, which is why I mentioned it.

Cheers
