cannot see Admin link on Home page

I've moved a user into the administrators group, but when I log in as that
user, I cannot see the Admin link on their home page? This user is also in
another group with more restrictive access. How do I get the Admin link to
show up on that user's homepage?
Thanks,
Roxane

Do any of the other Groups in which this person belongs have the Deny
permission checked for any permission?

Roxane,
One more step is needed.

Signed on as yourself (Administrator), in PWA go back to editting that
user's profile. Expand Global Permissions. Confirm that the Set
Permissions with Template drop down has Administrator and click the Set
Permissions with Template button.

In general, when you add someone to a group, you need to also set the
permissions to be compatible to that group. If they are in multiple groups,
set the permissions for the highest template or create a custom template.

Save.

Now it should work.
Good luck,

Hi Dale,

Yes, the other group this person is in is checked deny for some permissions,
but which permissions would stop the Admin link from appearing on the home
page for that user? Are there multiple permissions that prevent this link
from appearing on the home page?

Thanks for you time,
Roxane

Hi Dale,

Actually I think I figured it out. It seems the group, global permission
"About Microsoft Office Project Server 2003" affects whether the Admin link
will appear at the top of the home page of the user. This was one permission
I had denied to the other group the user was in, and when I changed it to
allow, the admin link showed up on the home page for the user. It seems an
odd permission to allow/disallow this, but heh, it works!

Thanks again,
Roxane

You have just learned that permissions are cumulative across all of the
Groups to which a resource belongs. If you set a permission to Deny in any
Group, then users who are included in that Group will find the permission
denied in EVERY Group to which they belong. A better approach is to set a
permission to Not Allowed, which means that neither Allow or Deny are
checked. Hope this helps.
