Cannot see formula descriptions in worksheet as I type a formula.

When I type a formula into the worksheet I do not get the little box
underneath that gives the formula description (ex. NPV(rate,value1,
value2... box does not come up). Does anyone know how to change my
Excel set-up so that it will show as I type? Any help much
appreciated.

Thanks,
RL

Greatly appreciate the answer and was able to verify on Excel 2003.
Unfortunately, my machine is running Excel 2000 and that option is not
available.
Any add-ins for this or some other workaround?

Thanks again,
RL

I don't know if this works on other versions....

CTRL SHIFT A

Start typing the formula:

=NPV(

After you type in the ( then use the key combo of CTRL SHIFT A and the
arguments will show. It doesn't work like the regular function tooltips,
though! In fact, it seems like a pita but at least it'll show you what the
arguments are supposed to be.

You're welcome. Thanks for the feedback!

Those function tooltips come in handy when you're 6 nested levels deep in a
real complex formula!
