I'm trying to insert a picture in an email through Word. I can choose and
insert picture but only the outline shows up. I can edit picture with Word
after insertion but cannot view or send picture successfully.

If Word is your e-mail editor, simply open a new message,
and copy and paste the image into your message. Word and
Outlook will have to be the same version for Word to be
your e-mail editor.

Thanks for the reply, but the same thing happens. I'm using Office 2000, both
programs came from the same disk. Word is my editor and I get just the border
of the picture, even though I tried it as you said, I cut and paste the
picture. When I open the editor from the email after I paste, the picture
comes up. But when I view the email it only appears as an outline. When I
send it I get nothing.

I'm trying to simpify picture viewing for my mother. I'll probably have to
post the pictures as a last resort.

Any thoughts?

I found an answer, not THE answer, opening the picture in Word and using the
Send To- feature, choosing 'mail recipient'.
I still don't understand the reason it won't work correctly in Outlook.
