Cannot select Default Font in Options

S

Susan Dee

For the life of me, I can't figure out why my fonts aren't
accessible!

From within Access XP, I select Tools, Options, Datasheet
tab, Fonts. The dropdown box has no fonts listed. What
the heck happened?

I can, however, open a table or datasheet and use the
Format feature to select a font. But my default font
selection cannot be made.

Please help if you have any insight. I'm lost on this one!

Thanks!

Susan

I too have just experienced this problem with a
variation. I imported some tables from an Access 2000
database and my default font switched to Comic Sans MS.
That is what made me look. When I go to Tools, Options,
Datasheet tab, Fonts, I also see no fonts listed.

I've used Access for years and the list of fonts that
Word uses was always the same list in Access.

Does anyone know how to get the drop-down list to connect
correctly to the fonts folder?

Get out of town! Mine changed to comic sans as well! I
wonder if something is going wacky with VB or something.
Please someone help us! This affects every database! Of
course, I have Access 2000 and that is working just fine.
But, I must have my XP.

OK, I found a partial answer in another forum.

Open the registry (By Start->Run->{type "regedit"}->ok
Navigate to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0
\Access\Settings
Edit "Default Font Name" to the font you want.
For example, set Default Font Name to "Arial"
Then start access and even though the "default font" in
the options will still be empty, the default font in the
datasheets will be whatever you entered in the registry.

I tried this and it seems to work. I don't know if it
will 'stick', but at least it gets me back to a readable
page.
