Cannot select profile - Choose Profile dialogue box doesn't appear

P

Peter Lawton

I have been happily using different profiles under Outlook 2002 for a couple
of years and have not encountered any difficulty until now. I use 'Shutdown
Outlook' to ensure each instance is closed before opening the other and
"Knockout' to check outlook.exe is not running as well as checking with task
manager.

However today I am not given the 'Choose Profile' dialogue on opening
Outlook - it goes straight to the last opened instance of Outlook. Only
restarting enables me to change profile.

I have not added any addins or programs that might account for the change in
behaviour.

The obvious is to say that Outlook isn't closing properly but I can't see
any evidence of it in task manager and Knockout reports it has closed. I
also can't see any evidence of any vaguely Outlook related apps being open.
For example no PDA or phone sync software is used. Other computers here have
much the same configuration and open different profiles still without
trouble.

Completely stumped
