Cannot send email from Comcast server

My Entourage worked fine until a few days ago.

I used POP to recive my work emails at home and was able to use Comcast's SMTP to send out my emails in the past. All of a sudden, my "send" does not work anymore (I keep getting the server fails & times out message), but I can receive emails with no problem.

Please help! Thank you!

Very frustrated

I found the following information on Comcast's web site for connecting to
Mac Mail:
http://help.comcast.net/content/faq/How-to-verify-Mail-(Macintosh)-settings

The instructions for Entourage should be similar. In particular, under
advanced sending options,
Override default SMTP port: set to 587
Check SMTP server requires authentication.
Either Use same settings... or
Enter your Comcast Account ID and password and check Log on using

Hope this helps.

Did you find your solution? I'm having same problem & have the settings suggested but to no avail. Any ideas from what you learned? I use gmail through Comcast. It was working fine and then not. Can only receive. Thanks. Karen Belyea

You can download directly from Gmail rather than have it forward through
Comcast. Please start your own thread the next time rather than adding onto
someone else's thread.
