Cannot send email from outlook 2003

Maureen

I just migrated from Outlook Express to Outlook 2003
Everything went fine until I tried sending a message.
I pressed the "Test Account Settings" button and everything shows
"completed" including "Send test email".
I had a problem with an error message relating to a McAfee add-in on loading.
McAfee had been deleted previously.
I unchecked the McAfee add-in box in the Add-ins section of Outlook and it
now loads without the McAfee error message.
Still no luck.
Send Error message states:

Task Mail Account - Sending' reported error (0x8004010F) : 'The operation
failed. An object could not be found.'

Anybody see this before?

Outlook Express still works fine, all settings are triple-checked between
the 2 installs.

That error often means a problem with the address book service. If you click To, do you see your contacts? Did you try running detect and repair?

I am having the same problem. I have already used the scan pst file tool. I
have uninstalled and reinstalled both outlook 2003 and Norton Antivirus. I
have removed a plug in (Jott). Nothing helps.

Yes I see the names in my address book when I click on "To:".
I have also run "Detect & Repair", all to no avail.
I am still running Outlook Express since I cannot get 2003 to "Send".
It will "Receive" without a problem. It is only the "Send" function that
doesn't work. This is ridiculous.
I have a Masters degree in Computer Science and cannot get a blasted piece
of software to work.
