Cannot Send email - SMTP Error 3259

Hey, I am hoping this group can help me out. I have been plagued with
connection problems ever since I started using Entourage, it is very
frustrating and I have never had so many issues with an email client
before. Here is the latest one I am struggling with. I can set this
email account up using the default mail program on my Mac OS X mail
and it has no issues, I try and set it up in Entourage 2008 (install
12.2.1) and I can't send email. I have deleted all email accounts in
Entourage and am now just trying to get this one working. I have
tried every combo of port setting, SSL, and regular log in options and
nothing seems to work. I have contacted my hosting company, they have
set up my email using Outlook and Outlook Express and have no issues
sending emails as well. So it appears this is just an Entourage
issue.

Using the default set-up wizard where you can validate your entry this
is what I get:

Please wait, this may take a few minutes…

Verifying incoming (POP3) mail account "(e-mail address removed)" on
"mail.vensland.com":
Verification Succeeded.

Verifying outgoing (SMTP) mail account "(e-mail address removed)" on
"mail.vensland.com":
Connecting securely to mail.vensland.com
Verification Failed: "An operation on the server timed out. The server
may be down, overloaded, or there may be too much net
traffic." (-3259 )

Some of your account settings are incorrect. Click the left arrow and
verify the items highlighted in red. To complete setup without
verifying your account settings, click the right arrow.

So far the only thing I notice that is odd is if I use the back arrows
in the wizard the User ID is showing as "david" when I entered in
"(e-mail address removed)" although if I go into the manual set-up it does
show "(e-mail address removed)" Is there some weird deal within Entourage
that is ignoring portions of the SMTP user ID's past the @ sign?

Thanks for any help, I have had so many issues with Entourage overall
that I am ready to jump ship and go find another email client.

I really don't think so.
I use a similar authentication with another server and I don't have any
problem with it.
Could it simply be a temporary glitch on the server??
Have you tried setting up the account in Mail to see if you could send
from there?
