Cannot Send Mail! Mail stuck in outbox

Someone please help.

Using Office 2007, outlook 2007, am getting the following error message.

Task DOMAINNAME.COM - USERID - Sending' reported error (0x80042109) :
'Outlook cannot connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server. If you
continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or
Internet service provider (ISP).'

I cannot send mail out through almost all of my accounts, there are a few
that work, but most of them do not, I find this very strange. Have been using
outlook 2007 since March, this is the first time I had this issue. I think
there was a problem when outlook wanted to close suddenly this morning, after
reopening it, the problem started. I did the diagnostic test, everything
turned up ok, so I am not sure what to do. I do not want to rebuild all my
accounts, that will take me hours as I have over 20, please help.

More information.

1. Deleting and rewriting the account information has no effect and creates
more problems if you forget to delete all the messages off the server as they
will be downloaded again.

2. Rebooting and letting outlook fix itself for about 20 minutes seems to do
the trick. Everthing seems to be working fine now.
