cannot send pictures w/e-mail Office 2007

M

Miss K

I am not able to send pictures w/Windows mail. I have Vista and Office 2007.
I understand this is a common complaint. Has Microsoft solved it?

J

JoAnn Paules

Are you trying to send them with Windows Mail or Outlook 2007. If it's the
former, you need to ask in a Windows newsgroup. If it's the latter, perhaps
we cna help.

Either way, we need more details - like what happens when you try.

M

Miss K

I have been using Windows mail. Can I switch my e-mail to Outlook and will I
be able to send pictures through that?

Using Windows mail, it gets hung up and won't complete the send.

You may be able to send your pictures via Outlook 2007 - it sort of
depends upon why they’re getting hung up.

Does it just freeze with no error message or ?

What does "Normal Size" mean? On my system my pictures range from a
couple of hundred KB to 3MB+ depending upon which camera I used, at what
resolution and whether or not I have done any compression or editing on
the picture.

What kind of e-mail account is it? POP? IMAP? Does your ISP impose a
limit on message size? How many pictures are there in the e-mail you're

I send pictures via e-mail (using Outlook 2007) several times a week
with no problems. It may be able to be fixed but it depends upon what's
causing it. It would still be helpful to know what size a "normal JPG"
is for you in case your ISP thinks it's too big.

It would not send a single picture size: 1.32 MB.

I have DSL and the pictures are normal jpg size. I tried sending only one
picture. It won't go through. I've read that others w/Vista cannot send
pictures from e-mail. Can it be fixed?

:

Are you using dial-up or broadband? How big are these pictures?

The send bar will go most of the way across and then it times out.

You may be able to send your pictures via Outlook 2007 - it sort of
depends upon why they're getting hung up.

Does it just freeze with no error message or ?

Using Windows mail, it gets hung up and won't complete the send.

In Windows Mail go to Tools | Accounts. Find your e-mail account that
you're trying to send thru and select it then click Properties. Go to
the Advanced tab and move the Server Timeout slider to the right (longer
timeout) and see if that resolves it.

That is not the problem. I was able to send the same photo through Outlook
in the blink of an eye. I guess I will abandon Windows mail and switch to
Outlook. Microsoft has a problem with Vista that they need to fix.

Well, to be accurate it appears the problem is with Windows Mail - since
it worked in Outlook under Vista. :)

And I send pictures with Outlook under Vista all the time with no
problems. I don't think I've ever tried sending a picture with Windows
Mail so I can't vouch for that.

Jack

I have Vista Ultimate 64 and use Windows Mail (formerly Outlook Express) and
have had no problems sending or receiving large size images. I just sent a
2.67MB
photo to myself as an attachment and when you open the message it has the
attachment and also displays the image (full size) in the message area.
Because
the image is duplicated in the message area and includes the attachment, the
message size is 3.78MB..

I sent it to G-mail as well and it does the same except it first displays as
a
thumbnail with the option to view full size.

I also have Office 2007 although I don't know why that would make any
difference sending e-mail with graphics. My only complaint with Office 2007
occurs when I attempt to copy something from a website and copy it to
a Word document. It works but takes a long time for some reason.

My ISP is Comcast. It may be your ISP has a limitation.

You don't say what happens to the message after you apply the attachment
or paste an image into the message area which is another option.
