"Cannot shift objects off sheet"

Gang,
I have a list using List Manager. For the second time, I've been
greeted with the error message "Cannot shift objects off sheet" when I
try to simply hide a row. This happened before, and the problem went
away on its own. It's doing it again today and I can't seem to
replicate whatever it was that fixed it before. I've tried removing the
autofilters, visuals, total row, I've closed the doc, quit Excel, even
rebooted the whole computer at one point. I have no idea what "objects"
the error is referring to, or I might have a better clue.

Any ideas? (OS 10.3.9, Excel 11.2.3, as of this morning, but it had
this same error a few weeks ago with the prior version of Excel)

(BTW, this is the same spreadsheet that JE McGimpsey is presently trying
to troubleshoot the tens of thousands of extra rows I can't seem to
delete. I think this spreadsheet is haunted but I'm stuck with it!)

Incidentally, it will let me hide columns just fine. It's only having
this issue when trying to hide rows.
