Just what the title says. I cannot start outlook because MAPI32.DLL is
corrupt or wrong version. Every other office program works fine.

John

I have office 2003. I tried this anyways and it didnt work. I also tried
re-installing it and I still have the same problem. Thanks for the quick
reply.

Close Outlook - use Windows search to find fixmapi.exe and run it.

I'm having the exact same problem. Has anything worked yet? I've tried
everything here and in the Knowledge Base that I can find. I can't find a
registry entry that is causing the problem. I'm at a complete loss.

Mr. Robyn Myers

Have not tried it yet but I have the same issue and the fix was in another
newsgroup. (hopeful fix) get rid of MSMAPI32, the one with the 2006 date.

Need to be in safe mode, tried to delete earlier and could not. Now if I can
get my USB keyboard to work at that stage of the startup?

Good luck

Mr. Robyn Myers

Ok that worked, we need to spread the word many people have the mapi32
problem. You need to be in safe mode, then search for mapi32, KILL EXPLORER,
then use the browse in new task in task manager to delete the MSMAPI32, upon
restart Outlook 2003 works again.

I tried to install the OFFICE 2007 beta both as fresh install and an
upgrade, it will NOT install. Then I reloaded OFFICE 2003 and outlook would
not start. Outlook express worked fine, so the mapi32 error message was
actually not correct. It was the MSMAPI32 file.

Spread the word ..

Deleting MSMAPI32 might be not easy for you (unless you're in safe mode
which I don't how to get in with Windows XP), try this simple step:
1. rename C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI --> xxMSAPI
2. restart Windows, then run Outlook --> it will re-install necessary
files automatically and problem is fixed
3. delete xxMSAPI folder as you have another MSAPI already

Good luck!

Have you tried this ?

1. Start your computer in safe mode
2. Delete the contents of the "C:\Program Files\Common
Files\System\MSMAPI\1033" folder
3. Reboot into normal mode and start Outlook, setup will replace the files
with the correct version and Outlok will load as normal.

The tip is on this forum but I don't know how to link it.
