Cannot switch off tracking in a table (help)

MJ

I have a word document which was created by someone else. They have created
tables with bulleted lists and I am to change the bullets to roman numerals.
My problem is that even if I switch off tracking (Tools > track Changes)
red tracking boxes appear if I change anything inside the tables (there is
no TRK in the status bar). If I make changes outside of the tables then no
boxes appear.

All of this only happens in tables.

Application version Word 2002 SP2 on Win XP Prof

Thanks in advance

G'day "MJ" <[email protected]>,

there's lotsa stuff at www.wopr.com and www.editorium.com on using
track changes in XP, which, generally speaking, is a complete
nightmare.

Hi Mj,

I haven't too much experience with the idiosyncracies of tracking, but my best
guess here would be that either 1) tracking hasn't been turned off or 2) the
table (or document, or both) have been damaged.

If you're not seeing the "Reviewing" toolbar, turn it on. Look for the button
that turns track changes on/off (second from the right, probably). Is it
really off?

If it is, and you're still seeing the problem, try copying the table to a new
document. Does it behave now? If yes, delete it from the original document and
copy the copied one back into it.
